Purse Angels is a company specialising in the sale of handbag hooks; known as ‘Purse Angels’. The company also sells keyfinders, and stocks Tipsyfeet and a range of other accessories. This gift set includes a plain crystal design Purse Angel in the colour grape and a matching keyfinder (although other colours are available).
The Purse Angel
The Purse Angel is a very clever yet simple product; I find the best inventions normally are! It’s basically a hook that you can place on top of tables, creating somewhere to put your bag. I’ve often experienced bags getting dirty because I’ve had to set them on the ground (even the added 'feet' don't always work). Unfortunately I haven’t had any designer handbags, but I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s never nice seeing that your beautiful handbag is now covered in dirty marks – no matter the price.
The crystal part of the Purse Angel ‘swings’ so that it can be laid flat for storage (a little Purse Angels branded pouch was included with the set and this would be perfect for storing it in your bag). The underside of this part has a soft rubber backing which creates more resistance on surfaces; limiting the likelihood of the handbag hook sliding.
With this particular design, the crystal has a repeated square pattern and is raised rather than being flat, I find this increases the sparkle. Also, whilst being purple, there are a variety of shades shown when it catches the light.
The Keyfinder
The keyfinder has the same ‘etched square’ design on the crystal and is also raised. I had to read the instructions on how to use this, but basically, just as you would place the crystal part of the Purse Angel onto a table, you place the crystal part of the keyfinder over the edge of your bag. It has a little keychain attached to the end where you can pop your keys on; for easy access.
Originally I thought this wasn’t a very safe idea, but then I realised that if used with the Purse Angel i.e. you can keep your handbag in your view in front of you, then it’s unlikely that anyone will get anywhere near it. Alternatively however, you could always put it over the edge of one of the inside compartments of your handbag; so it’s not on display.
The Packaging
The only let down with this gift set is the little pink box that it’s presented in. Although I feel it’s a very pretty design of packaging, I just felt like it wasn’t speaking the brand. Finding the branded black and hot pink pouch inside made me feel like the light pink box was a bit of a misfit. I would have liked to see a black box with a branded sticker matching that on the pouch.
Bottom Line
It’s a lovely set that is a pleasure to own, it provides a solution to an everyday problem and whilst not being a necessity, it brings a little bit of luxury into your life. I found it quite expensive, and for that reason I think I’d only ever buy it as a gift for someone else but I really like the set, and think it’s a very handy product.
Update: This is no longer being sold as a gift set, but you can still purchase the handbag hook and keyfinder individually.
